READING, PA — June 8, 2020 — McCarthy Engineering Associates, Inc. announces Anthony Kells has been promoted to CADD Manager.
“Anthony’s drive to maximize the usage of technology, his mentoring skills and his broad industry experience allow him to take over his new role and hit the ground running,” said Jim McCarthy, President McCarthy Engineering.
As CADD Manager, Kells will be responsible for defining and maintaining CADD standards, licensing and training for the company as well as overseeing the CADD team. He will be responsible for preparing and overseeing the preparation of 2D and 3D construction drawings from redline sketches, 2D/3D layouts, existing drawings and electronics images. Verifying drawing details include all views and dimensions necessary for clear and accurate presentation to clients on time. Kells will be based out of McCarthy Engineering Associates Wyomissing office.
“Success for me as a CADD manager is an easy task: The best way to lead is to be a part of the team and lead by example. I will never ask a team member to complete a task that I myself have not done or could not do. I depend on my team’s strengths that they possess and they depend on me to teach them the skills they have not yet mastered,” said Kells.
Kells brings more than 20 years of AutoCADD software experience to his new role. In his last role as a Senior Designer for McCarthy Engineering, Kells’ focus was primarily related to the civil related aspects for both public and private projects but has also done Survey, Structural and Mechanical Design. Kells received his Associates Degree in Specialized Technology from Lincoln Technical Institute and Drafting Technology Verification from Western Center for Technical Studies.
McCarthy Engineering Associates, Inc. announces Shawn Schwartz has been promoted to Construction Inspection Manager.
“Shawn’s combination of design and construction experience gives him a unique combination of skills to lead the Construction Management and Observation team at McCarthy Engineering,” said McCarthy.
As Construction Inspection Manager, Schwartz will be responsible for managing all construction inspections for private, municipal and governmental clients. Project inspections include verifying the project is constructed correctly and then verifying and signing off on permits. For government agencies, all inspections must verify the project is constructed per governing standards and codes. The inspections can also be utilized for escrow reduction and payment application. Other duties include creation of survey quotes and scheduling of multiple survey crews. Schwartz will be based out of McCarthy Engineering Associates Wyomissing office.

I am excited to work with the team to continue to expand and explore opportunities for McCarthy Engineering,” said Schwartz.
Schwartz is a seasoned professional with more than 35 years in the engineering field.
